Force Collector

Force Collector by Kevin Shinick
A lighthearted story about a high school kid running away from home to learn more about the Jedi, this is, well, not the most adult of Disney-Lucasfilm's line of young adult Star Wars novels. But that doesn't mean it's not a fun read, and it also has some small connections to places and things from The Rise of Skywalker movie and Disney's Galaxy's Edge theme park.

Canto Bight

Canto Bight by Saladin Ahmed, Rae Carson, Mira Grant, and John Jackson Miller
Canto Bight is the galaxy's most luxurious Casino City, and one of the settings of the The Last Jedi movie. In this book, four star authors each contribute a short novella about the lives of the people living in and visiting this city, and the gambles they must take to survive in a world where beauty is only a facade.

The stories are based on settings and background characters from The Last Jedi. Some of them ended up getting cut from the actual film, but it's a really fun read anyway.

Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire

Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire by Delilah S. Dawson
The flagship tie-in to the new Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge theme park experience at Disneyland and Disney World, Black Spire tells the story of a ragtag group of allies on the planet Batuu who have to team up to survive against the First Order. Set before and after The Last Jedi film, it features the return of Resistance spy Vi Moradi from the Phasma novel, and is written by the same author.

Resistance Reborn

Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse
Set just after The Last Jedi, and before The Rise of Skywalker, this book explains how the Resistance starts to recover from its devastating defeat on Crait. It's also fun for people who have been reading other canon books and comics, because it brings together a lot of different characters from them - especially from the Bloodline and Aftermath books and the Poe Dameron comics.

Despite being published as part of the lead-up to The Rise of Skywalker though, it doesn't lead directly into the story of the movie.

A Crash of Fate

A Crash of Fate by Zoraida Córdova
Been looking for another epic Star Wars teen romance novel ever since Lost Stars? Of course you have. Well, here it is: Set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker movies, A Crash of Fate brings together two childhood friends from the planet Batuu, who, well, probably aren't staying "just friends" for long. The book is also a tie-in to the Disney's Galaxy's Edge theme park, which is set on Batuu.

Though officially a young adult novel, A Crash of Fate is 350 pages long and part of the same more-mature publishing line as Lost Stars, Ahsoka, Queen's Shadow, and other great books.

Star Wars Insider: The Fiction Collection, Volume 2 by various authors
Star Wars Insider magazine, the official magazine of Star Wars, has often published exclusive short stories set in the Star Wars universe, sometimes as tie-ins to new novels and movies, and other times just to explore new corners of the galaxy.

Now people who aren't subscribed to the magazine can finally read many of those obscure tales in this new book, the second collecting short fiction from Star Wars Insider

Unlike earlier Star Wars short story collections, this book and the previous volume include a mix of canon stories and stories from the old Legends expanded universe, since it covers magazine issues from a period spanning 2011 to 2016.
